Lutheran Church of the Holy Spirit

Guiding the Community to Christ, with Support & Love

About

The Lutheran Church of the Holy Spirit is rich in faith, prayer, friendship, and history.  We are a congregation who commits itself to serving our Lord, Jesus Christ, and His people.  We service our congregation, and the surrounding Delaware Avenue community with many ministries that include Senior Luncheons, Vacation Bible School and Youth Groups, School Age Tutoring, English as a Second Language classes, Prayer and Fellowship Groups, Book Clubs, Christian Education classes and events.

All the while, we keep our Mission Statement and our Guiding Principles ever in the forefront of our outreach.

Mission Statement: "To Guide the Community to Christ with Support and Love."

Guiding Principles:

  • Jesus is Lord
  • Live our lives according to God’s Word
  • We welcome all into our Congregation
  • All are equal in the eyes of God
  • We are to forgive each other, as God forgives us

Worship

Worship Schedule: Sundays, 10 AM

Holy Spirit participates in a traditional worship service each Sunday where we celebrate the Good News of Christ's saving grace and rejoice together as a community.  The worship follows a liturgy from one of our seven settings which can be followed in our "user-friendly bulletins."  Worship is accompanied by Jim Ragotzkie on our treasured pipe organ.  Between the months of September and June, worship is accompanied by our choir.

We celebrate Holy Communion on every Sunday.  Everyone is welcome to partake in the meal with us and this invitation comes from Jesus our Lord!  Children who have not been instructed are welcome to receive a blessing.

Community

Holy Spirit is located in the historic South End of Albany, New York.  We are actively participating in events with Delaware Community School, are the host site for an English as a New Language class, and partner with the Delaware Avenue Neighborhood Association (DANA) in sponsoring community events.

Christian Education

Sunday School is held between the months of September and May, beginning at 9:00 AM.  Children who are at least four years old are welcome to participate in our "Little Red Schoolhouse."

Adults are invited to participate in our Bible Book Club.

We also host a bi-monthly Koinonia meeting for further enrichment.
